Fall 2025 Personal Curriculum: Monsters and Control - the Gothic.

Reflection

For the first time in my life, I lack the consistent structure I had grown accustomed to following seventeen years of education. I believe in the importance of education particularly through engaging with literature. Because of this, I decided to complete a curriculum similar to what I would have accomplished in English courses.

Query

Examining six books through the lens of ‘monsters’ and the feeling of control. Reading them in order of their releases in order, 19th century to 21st century, to see how classic gothic literature has changed over the past three decades. Looking at each entry into the genre and how it influences its successors.
